Hey there,
Firstly, I want to say a huge thank you to subscribing to this new Newsletter. Anyone who has been following me on Twitter, or has met me in person will know that I am keen to understand how we can feel motivated about our social work careers. I am a passionate advocate for social work and truly believe that it is a profession which is unmatched for its ability to touch the lives of many people. Ultimately, I believe that Social Work makes a difference to society and the world and I want to create longevity in Social Work through Reflection and Connection.
I guess this Newsletter started as an idea many years ago. But it was one of those "another time" ideas. You know, the type of idea that seems like it is good but you just don't have time to make it a reality. A bit like the idea of owning a community hub coffee shop or a social enterprise mental health service. Both great ideas but they need investment. Investment of time and in most cases money.
Well I have taken the plunge to actually turn this idea into reality. I don't yet know what this Newsletter will become, but I do know what I want it to achieve now. New editions of this newsletter will usually be sent to you weekly on a Thursday morning with thoughts, ideas and reflections on our wonderful profession. I will share the successes and celebrate fantastic achievements. I will ask questions designed to help you reflect on your role as a Social Worker.
This Newsletter can be used to form part of your CPD. I will be working on creating a downloadable reflections sheet to enable you to crystallise your thoughts into actual recorded professional development. It doesn't cost anything to subscribe and I would also be welcome to the idea of having guest editions where you write to the social work world.
I welcome all ideas and discussion. You can use #socialworksurvival over on twitter or if you want a 1:1 discussion, why not send me a DM on Twitter. You can find me @Ant_vaughan. I'd love to hear from you.
Finally, if you know any Social Workers, Student Social Workers or anyone else interested, please do forward them this email or suggest they sign up for free. Together, we can achieve great things and improving the morale and resilience of fellow Social Workers the perfect place to start.
Remember, you are amazing and don't let anyone fool you into thinking otherwise.
I will share this on my website and social media as well as share this with social work students at Bournemouth University.
